EMDR FOR MORE THAN TRAUMA

Many of our clients suffering with an eating disorder have unresolved trauma that laid the foundation for an Eating Disorder. This training not only addresses the impact that trauma has on Eating Disorder development and how to treat this with EMDR, we also discuss how to use EMDR to treat several components of the Eating Disorder in addition to the trauma. This training focuses on EMDR to address body disturbance, food-related somatic sensations, and discusses how to use EMDR when working with personality disorders and secondary gains that maintain the disorder.

The complexities of Eating Disorder treatment involves more than addressing trauma. This training will discuss practical techniques for conceptualizing the case from perspectives of personality disorder, dissociation and co-occurring issues that your client may experience. Many case examples will be used to help provide a deeper understanding of EMDR techniques and treatment planning with EMDR. Understanding all the facets that comprise and maintain an eating disorder is crucial to helping your client unwire the foundational experiences that have created their suffering.
